Yonkers LGBTQ+ Pride Scholarship

DEADLINE MAY 19th, 2024!

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrated leadership and/or service in the community

• Member or ally of the LGBTQ+ community

• Currently enrolled as a Yonkers Public High School senior who will be attending an accredited college, university, or vocational school in US or Canada in 2024

• Official transcript showing GPA of 3.0 or higher

• Demonstrated financial need

• Provide one letter of recommendation

SCHOOL OR COLLEGE: An accredited college, university, or vocational school

AMOUNT OF AWARD: $1,000

BASIS OF AWARD: Please answer the following two questions (500 words max).

1. How have you demonstrated leadership and/or service in your community, specifically to the LGBTQ+ community if applicable.

2. How has your identity as a member of the LGBTQ+ community or allyship shaped your high school experience?

APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Applications accepted February 2024 through May 19, 2024. Please submit the following to chair@yonkerspride.org no later than 11:59 PM on May 19, 2024:

• Response to two questions above

• Official or unofficial copy of a recent transcript

• One letter of recommendation

• College acceptance letter

• Student Aid Report from FAFSA* consideration will be given to undocumented students who have not submitted a FAFSA

• Award recipients will be invited to accept awards on June 7th, 2024 at Yonkers Pride Flag Raising Ceremony
